CHER

"For someone who likes tattoos, the most precious thing is bare skin." ~ Cher

Singer/songwriter/actress Cher has had eighteen Top Ten Singles and Five Number One Songs (one with Sonny Bono and four solo) on Billboard in a singing career spanning four decades. Cher won the 1987 Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Moonstruck, and also starred in the critically acclaimed films, Mask, Silkwood and the Witches of Eastwood, among many others. Her 'Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour' television variety show with late husband, Sonny Bono was a smash ratings hit from 1971 to 1974.

In addition to her Oscar, Cher has garnered a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award and three Golden Globes.

Cher was one of the first celebrities to openly and enthusiastically embrace tattoos and body art, and with her outrageous sense of style and fashion, she played a pivotal role in the acceptance of tattoos within mainstream popular culture. An enduring popular culture icon, Cher continues to headline sold-out shows in Las Vegas. Cher's over-the-top sense of style, theatrical performances on and off stage and her open acceptance of her daughter Chastity's lesbianism has made her one of the world's most popular Gay icons.

Cher has flowers and a butterfly on her derriere, a bicep tattoo, a tattooed necklace with dangling charms, art deco crystals on underside of right arm, a black orchid below her panty line, a black rose on her ankle, and a Chinese symbol (meaning strength) on her right shoulder. Like Angelina Jolie, Cher's tattoo collection has ebbed and flowed over the years, adding some and subtracting others with ongoing laser removal.

Says Cher: "I don't know why I like tattoos so much. I know it's crazy. I can't defend them. I've had some of my tattoos for twenty years. I love getting them."
